Auriculotherapy
Auriculotherapy is a form of acupuncture therapy of the ear based on the ancient Chinese theory that the ear is a microsystem.
Upon stimulating points of the ear, illness is treated elsewhere in the body. Unlike therapeutic acupuncture therapy, the theory of illness is caused by a blockage or imbalance of the life force energy pathways; auriculotherapy is able to relieve both symptoms and the underlying pathologies.
Moreover, auriculotherapy stimulates the reflex points of the ear which connects directly to the central nervous system.
In auriculotherapy, short, hair thin needles may be used. Sometimes small pellets called "ear balls" or tiny herbal seeds are also used.
