Ikumi Abe Lic.Ac., MAOM, Dip.OM
Ikumi Abe Lic.Ac. is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist certified by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Medicine and the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Ikumi earned a Master of Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture in Newton, MA where she focused on Japanese Acupuncture, Chinese Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine for 4 years. In addition, she has advanced training in Cancer and Oriental Medicine (Cancer Support) in the U.S.A and Cosmetic Herbs at the Heilongjiang University & Herbal Medicine College in Tokyo.
She also received certification in Auricular Therapy (ear) from the Auriculotherapy Certification Institute in Los Angeles CA and Cosmetic Acupuncture Certification (preferred provider) from Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture System.
She has interned at several hospitals in the Boston area such as Cambridge Health Alliance Family Medical Center and the Winchester Hospital in Wilmington.
Her passion for Oriental Medicine has no limitations. She has had specialized studies with Dr. ZhenZhen Zhang Lic.Ac. in Newton.
Now, she maintains a private practice in Brighton, MA. She is also active as an Oriental Medical Research translator and contributes her bilingual skills in this capacity.
She is originally from Yokohama City, Okurayama Japan. After graduating from college in Tokyo, her first career was an assistant perfumer at the Perfumery Laboratory of a Perfumery Company in Tokyo. There she gained experience with therapeutic herbs and fragrances via Aroma Therapy through a scientific approach.
Acupuncture is her lifetime work. Her Japanese origin and intuition together with her knowledge of Western Medicine,
Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture skills are combined to create her own new style.
Today, Ikumi has integrated micro-current acupuncture into her practice and is researching "Stem Cells and Acupuncture" as an integrated future therapy.
